In CA & TA I sometimes play as a Boon Prot Monk, which works pretty well because of the large amount of healing with prot spells. I havn't played Tombs/GvG much, so I was wondering something. Assume a balanced team with 3 monks: 2 healers and 1 prot. What is the prot monk running? I'm guessing regular prot spells without the boon? A boon prot would seem redundant with healers around. Would Life bond be used normally, or just the standard RoF, prot spirit, shielding etc.?

3 monks team fail a lot recently. most top100 team run 2 prot-boon monk with/out a secondary monk.

Tombs prot monks need a Prot elite usually, so no boon for them. GvG is another story, its either like 2 boon/prots or 3 monks with a mixture of hybrids.

Boon prots are extremely common in GvG, while in Tombs there are none.

Prots in Tombs are either active/passive, passive being a bonder and active a non-boon prot.

I still wonder why people don't use 1 healer, 1 boon prot, and 1 bonder... as sometimes it can be hard for a bonder to put in all the yummy prot skills on his bar (I always find it difficult to choose skills)

Boon isnt an elite......you can run it in tombs with channeling easy enough for energy although it is better with OOB

In tombs though you generally want to run three monks, in which case a pure prot monk is far more beneficial in my experience, with you already having two heal monks. You can focus much more on your job, longer Aegis etc.

I did search for the build on a GvG Prot. Monk, but didn't have luck. Bad brain, I guess.

Any help would be appreciated. I found my Bonds getting stripped all the freaking time, and a good opposing team finds me and gang-kills me.

The "metagame" for monks in GvG at the moment, seems to be a heal monk and a boon prot in most cases. You can't really get away without a heal monk, as Infuse and Heal Party are godly against spike and degen. Boon prots however still work very nicely.

Something like this:

Heal Monk

Monk/Necromancer
Level: 20

Healing Prayers: 14 (12+2)
Divine Favour: 9 (8+1)
Blood Magic: 10

- Orison of Healing (Healing Prayers)
- Heal Other (Healing Prayers)

I'm 90% sure that he meant to put Divine Favor instead of Protection Prayers. His only protection spell is Mend Ailment. It's stupid to take Prot over DF just for that.
